Sugar and gluten free christmas pudding for diabetics ingredients

Pudding Lady Diabetic Christmas Pudding log nutrition panel

Please note all sugars are naturally occurring (ie in the fruit).

Note about preservatives 202 and 282 from our Nutrition Scientist:

Preservative 202 is potassium sorbate - a salt of sorbic acid which is naturally found in some fruits (eg berries). The commercial ingredient is synthetically produced creating what is termed a “nature identical” chemical (chemically equivalent to the molecule found in nature).

Preservative 282 is calcium propionate aka propanoate. Until recently, this was the preservative used for decades in commercially available bread in Australia. Propionates occur naturally in foods like cheese, and also as part of the digestion process in your gut.

Both are mould and yeast inhibitors. Normally sugar acts as a preservative as it draws water from microbes, but as there is insufficient sugar in this product in order for it to be suitable for diabetics, a very small amount of each preservative has been used.

Any reported adverse effects of are dose-related, and very few consumers will be affected by the tiny dose in a serve of Christmas pudding once a year, especially if they normally avoid preservatives.

If you are still concerned, we have a
preservative-free alternative available in a round shape
